Our big night!

Just a reminder we’re getting down to the last week before our production and we’re making preparations this week to get our performance perfect!

We will be having practices now starting daily after school from Tuesday the 21st until opening day on Wednesday, February 29th.

Please be sure to show your child lots of support and help them with their costume, and remembering/practicing lines. If you have any useful props for your child’s scene send them in this week with your name taped to the bottom. We are also still in need of few imperative items: tablecloths, curtains, a rocking chair, chairs (for a kitchen table), and an old bicycle. Additionally we will need some extra hands on deck to help out backstage. If you’re interested in volunteering any time this week please stop by the multipurpose room after school.

No practice this week

Just a quick reminder, parents and caregivers, no practice again this week due to parent teacher conferences. We’ve been off to a slow start due to school schedules but looking forward to getting on a more regular schedule. Be sure to remind your child(ren) to please being their scripts to every practice.
See you next week!

Construction Supplies

As our new drama season begins we are evaluating the props and supplies we will need for a successful production.

Currently we are in need of construction supplies for our backdrop such as wood studs, sheet rock, nails, joint compound/spackle, and a pre-hung interior door. If we have any parents out there who would like to donate any of these items it would so greatly appreciated! Unfortunately we are not furnished with school funding for ANY of our supplies and have to rely solely on fundraisers and donations to get our production started. Additionally, if you are interested in volunteering your time and skills for the various tasks we have ahead of us we truly would be gracious for any help you can offer!

We have hope to initiate fundraising events for our club such as a tricky tray auction in the next few months. We will be looking for donations from businesses such as restaurants, retail shops, etc. and business services for example a heating and air conditioning company who may donate a free service call. We’ll have more on that later, but again if you have any proposals we’d love for you to share your ideas with us.

Remember we are running this program purely as volunteers and will try our hardest to raise as much funding for our kids as possible and let them know their club is as important as any other extra-curricular club in the school!

Wow! What an amazing turn out we had today for auditions from a large group of wonderful students. We had many more children than we anticipated and want to thank everyone for trying out.

We will be adding some additional characters to accommodate all the children so they each may have a part. So rest assured if your child did not get assigned a part today, they will be assigned a character during our first practice on September 22nd. Auditions ran much later than we expected and therefore we decided to dismiss the cast with the intentions of getting back to the drawing board to write in some new scenes.

Again, our first practice will be held on Thursday September 22 in the multi-purpose room immediately after school. It will be a short meeting to get acquainted with the cast and hand out the new updated script. Please be sure to remember practices will be held every Thursday after school, unless otherwise noted on days such as half days.

Thanks again everyone!
